All About Me……

I moved to the Forest when I was appointed Rector of the villages of Ruardean, Drybrook and Lydbrook in November 2018. I have been in full time church ministry since 1986 and before that was a State Registered Nurse, and Registered Sick Children’s nurse.

I’ve always enjoyed working with children and their families both within and beyond the church.

Within our 3 parishes we have 5 primary schools. With Ruardean being a church of England Primary School we have particularly strong links and are able to explore together the special relationship between school and parish.

As Rector I get to know many people in the village and it’s good to have those links with school families too. I currently lead the Messy Church team, finding ways to make church more accessible to children and families and encouraging adults to recognise the importance of children’s spiritualty.

I love to be outdoors and enjoy walking, cycling and swimming. At home I enjoy cooking and have the occasional creative moment!

All About Me……

I retired from full-time employment in May 2014 after a 40 years local government career in democratic services working for a variety of councils (District, Metropolitan County and Unitary) supporting decision making, governance and propriety. I moved to Ruardean from Bristol in August 2002 when my involvement in the Church and local community began. I was licensed as a Reader (Lay Minister) in September 2012 and part of my role within the Church is that of Preacher. My vision is to assist in nurturing links between school and church through promotion of the Christian message and assisting in monitoring and sharing the Christian foundation values and ethos of the school.

I am a member of the Open the Book Team who enact Bible stories at assemblies two or three times a term and I periodically attend Collective Worship.

I am a member of Ruardean Carnival Committee, the Royal Forest of Dean Rotary Club and the Royal Forest of Dean Herbert Howells Society (having an interest in Choral music).

My leisure interests include swimming and cycling especially local trails around the Forest and South/Mid Wales.

All About Me……

I have lived in the Forest of Dean with my partner since 2018 having moved from Wiltshire after 30 years.  In Wiltshire I served as a school governor in both primary and secondary schools for 18 years.

I work as Safety Engineer in Bristol, and after 45 years working in marine engineering I am looking forward to retirement in 2025.

I am a member of the Lydbrook Players, providing lighting and sound for productions.  I enjoy the outdoors and take part in field archery in open and national competition, which can take me across the country.  I also enjoy touring in my camper van, both in the UK and in France.
